I poured this Zardetto Prosecco, Brut at a class last week and it reminded me just how delicious and great value Prosecco continues to be perfect for life's everyday special moments.
Delicate watery lemon in color, with a pearly necklace of bubbles around the rim. Wonderfully fresh and uplifting on the nose (as a good Prosecco should always be) with gentle but persistent floral notes, hints of lemony citrus, apricot and almond. The mousse is lively and creamy on the palate, with very refreshing, pure and bright flavors and it has a clean, harmonious finish.
At the Table
Today Prosecco is one of the most popular sparkling wines in the United States. Why? First up Prosecco makes a wonderful aperitif any day of the week or any time of the day. It is also fairly versatile at the table. It is light in body, so avoid hearty, rich dishes. This Zardetto is perfect with sushi, grilled or pan-fried white fish such as flounder or skate, or semi-hard cheese. Or enjoy with an assortment of nibbles such as spiced almonds, freshly blistered pimentos de padrn or air dried meats such as bresaola.
About Prosecco
Prosecco is a tank method sparkling wine produced in the Veneto area of Italy. Prosecco wines are creamy and gently effervescent. Prosecco is made from the Glera grape. If the wine is labeled as DOCG, it must come from the area of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene the classical heartland of Prosecco production. The production area for Prosecco DOC is also in the Veneto, but includes additional communes such as Treviso, from where the grapes to make this Zardetto wine were grown. This Zardetto Prosecco is Brut style with a sweetness level of about 12g/l.
