Save Oven Space! Make Your Dinner Rolls in the Slow Cooker

Oven space is always at a premium in the hours (and even the days) leading up to a big dinner like Thanksgiving. So here's a crazy idea: why not make make your dinner rolls in the slow cooker?

Zo Franois of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes swears that it can be done. All you need to do is make the dough for the rolls and let it rise as usual. To bake them, line a slow cooker with parchment, roll the doughs into balls, and place them in the slow cooker a few inches apart. Cover and bake on high for about an hour and you're done.

The only downside is that you don't get a shiny golden top in the low and slow heat from the slow cooker, but Zo says that you can brush the finished rolls with butter and run them under the broiler for a few minutes for just the same effect.
