Try This: Cardamom Coffee

You might be familiar with cardamom in baked goods or tea (think masala chai), but have you ever had cardamom-infused coffee?

This warm, fragrant beverage is especially popular in the Middle East, where cardamom seeds are often ground with coffee beans. Others add whole cardamom pods or even pre-ground cardamom powder to the brew.

We recommend starting with one crushed cardamom pod per cup of coffee, and later adjusting the amount to your taste. You can add the spice to the coffee grounds in a drip machine, French press, or any method you use to make coffee.

Smelly Hands? Remove Food Odors with Coffee Beans

I don't know about you, but the stainless steel trick has never really worked for me when trying to get garlic or other strong food smells off my hands. But I recently found something else that does work: coffee beans!

I've used coffee beans and grounds to freshen the refrigerator and it turns out this works on skin, too. To get rid of stubborn smells like garlic, onions, or fish, just rub a few coffee beans in your hands. When the unwanted odor is gone, wash with soap and water (unless you want to smell like cup of joe, instead!). I like the fact that this trick utilizes something I always have in the kitchen, rather than requiring the purchase of special soap, for instance.

Artfully Arranging Your Cup of Joe: Separate Morning Coffee Areas Kitchen Inspiration

I definitely have a morning coffee ritual. I'm a fan of the pour-over coffee method, and I look forward to that one perfect cup to jumpstart my day. But despite the formality of my brewing method, everything else about the process is pretty jumbled, with carafes, mugs, coffee beans, and electric teapot all stored in different parts of my small kitchen. Perhaps that's why I'm drawn to the pretty organization of a separate morning coffee area. Maybe it's set up in a cabinet or just arranged neatly on a sideboard, but it seems fitting to devote an area to such a crucial, enjoyable part of the morning. More photos below:
