Is it really already time to start thinking about Thanksgiving? Is National Turkey Day truly just next week? Eeek! It is indeed, and if the immediacy of things has caught you off guard as well then hopefully these quick, easy, (and inexpensive) ideas for setting your own beautiful Thanksgiving Day table will give you one less thing to worry about.
Last year, in an attempt to start my own holiday tradition, I had my folks come to my home for Thanksgiving. I was excited about it, as it meant I got a chance to do things the way I always had wanted...little booties on the turkey and all.
One problem however, was my just-a-touch-too-modern dining table with a glass top. I wanted to warm things up, so I went to JoAnn Fabric and purchased a swath of silver satin material to lay over top. For decorations, I simply bought a few branches of curly willow and some McIntosh apples with their beautiful red and green coloring.
I arranged those items organically across the center then set out several small glass votives to set the mood. For the finishing touch I then sprinkled a few leftover holiday herbs used to prepare some of the dishes...rosemary,basil, and (my favorite) sage.

Shopping List
Silver satin material (about 2 yards for my table) - $10
6 to 8 McIntosh apples - $5
Curly willow branches - $8
Leftover herbs - $0
Glass votives and candles (I had some lying around but these will do) - $7
Total: $30 or less
Another idea if you don't have glass votives is to get a small tea light candle cutter like this one. Simply cut out the center of each apple (it takes some muscle) and place a tea light inside.
Ta-da! You've set a beautiful table - and all using natural, organic materials.
Bring on the roasted potatoes!
How are you decorating your Thanksgiving table this year? Do you have any other easy, budget ideas for making it look special?
