The White House Brews Its Own Beer: And People Want the Recipe! Food News

2012-8-22-whitehouse.jpgHave you heard that The White House brews its own beer? President Obama even brought a few bottles with him recently on the campaign trail! This proved to be too much for ardent homebrewers and the curious media, though, who are now demanding access to the recipes, and through some clever means:

First, there was the online petition submitted to The White House.

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Release the recipe for the Honey Ale home brewed at the White House.
Following in the footsteps of great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, Barack Obama has reportedly been enjoying the rewards of home brewed beer. Recent reports from news outlets like the Washington Post (August 15th, 2012) have stated that Obama has been drinking a White House home brew Honey Ale while on the campaign trail.

In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, homebrewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all.

25,000 signatures needed, 23,253 to go! But lest homebrewers get discouraged, one clever Reddit user filed a Freedom of Information Act for the recipe, with perhaps the best closing line FOIA officers will ever have the pleasure of reading.

Also, if you could send me a copy autographed by the President, you'd be the coolest FOIA officer in the whole federal government, and who could resist that title?

We know there's a House Honey Ale recipe, a White House Honey Porter and White House Honey Blonde Ale, all made with honey from First Lady Michelle Obama's White House garden. Are you curious about The White House brews?
