Wow, this Prosecco really did bowl me over!
2011 Zardetto Tre Venti Rive di Ogliano Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG. Honestly, it has to be one of the very best Prosecco wines that I have tasted in a long while. Focused, taut, and persistent, it will give many a sparkling wine of similar price a good run for its money. This is a delicious wine to gift, or to enjoy for a special holiday celebration.
Delicate, yet focused nose of subtle floral notes and a strong stony minerality. Crisp, precise, mouth filling with very excellent tension and energy that really lifts the wine. On the dry side of Brut, it is lively, with tiny persistent bubbles. Long finish.
At the Table: This vintage dated Prosecco is quite delicious to enjoy on its own or with nibbles. Being quite dry, it will also pair well with a variety of dishes such as dressed Crab, sushi, char grilled shrimp or a simple piece of grilled white fish such as sole or flounder. We enjoyed it with a classic dish of linguine and jumbo crab meat.
About Zardetto's 2011 Tre Venti Rive di Ogliano Prosecco DOCG
Tre Venti is Zardetto's new limited edition single vineyard Prosecco. From the Tre Venti vineyard, the word Rive refers to the hill of Ogliano, a special, prized site within the Tre Venti vineyard. The Prosecco DOCG designated area, is in the Veneto, in northeastern Italy. Only 800 cases produced. As with all Prosecco this wine was made using the tank method. It is brut style with 8g/l residual sugar. Zardetto is one of the best-known Prosecco producers available in the U.S. market.
