Would You Eat Fresh Snow?

2013-2-11-snow.jpgThis past weekend Winter Storm Nemo walloped the East Coast. While online and holed up in my apartment Friday afternoon waiting out the storm, I came across a few recipes made with snow. The gist: don't let all that snow go to waste! How about a ginger snow cocktail? Maple syrup and butter snow taffy? And of course, snow ice cream? I was equal parts intrigued and a little appalled.

I live in New York City, so that thought of doing anything with snow other than trudging through it seems pretty gross to me. But if you live in an area with minimal pollution and powder snow blanketing your backyard, then maybe it's a cold, winter treat just waiting to happen!

If you're curious enough to give it a go, here's where you can start:

  • Maple Syrup and Butter Snow Taffy, via ABC Family
  • Snow Pancakes with Rum Butter, via Good Food Channel
